Mr. Mercer joined R&P as Director of Technical, Industrial and Rapid Prototyping Operations in 2018. He has over 30 years of Naval experience with hands-on experience managing people and resources to build, test, operate and support technically complex naval vessels and systems for Navy ACAT I shipbuilding programs. Having last served as the ASN (RD&A) Director, Rapid Prototyping and Experimentation, Mr. Mercer’s Navy career included Ship Repair Project Manager at SUPSHIP Portsmouth; Strategic Sealift Post Delivery Program Manager’s Representative; Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Branch Head/Ship Material Condition Readiness Officer for U.S. Atlantic Fleet; DD(X) Integrated Power Systems (IPS) Project Officer; SEA 05 Total Ship Power Division Officer; LPD 17 Class Production Officer; and LCS Production/Test/Post Delivery Director. As a Captain, he served as the Major Program Manager for the Amphibious Warfare Program (PMS 377). Mr. Mercer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy in 1988, and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Total Ship Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1996.
